How does a bbv Vietnam team work with a Swiss customer?
The team works in your sprint rhythm and with your tools. Vietnam is 5 hours in front of Swiss summer time, and 6 hours in front of Swiss winter time. This gives a daily overlap of 3 to 4 hours in the Swiss morning, and we use this time for the daily meeting, reviews and decisions. All engineers work in English.
What does a typical team look like?
A standard team is one project manager, one solution architect, two developers and one test engineer. We scale from one specialist to a team of 20 people for a long-term product. The setup changes with the phase of the project.
Which technologies do you use?
.NET and Java on the backend. Angular and React on the frontend. We also work in your existing stack and with your tools, because a change of technology in the middle of a product life adds cost without business value.
How do you make sure that the quality meets Swiss expectations?
Every team has a test engineer, not only developers. We use code reviews, automated unit and integration tests, a build pipeline with quality gates, and a definition of done that you approve. We report the test coverage and the open defects in each sprint review. bbv has delivered software for Swiss customers for more than 17 years.
What happens if a key engineer leaves the team?
We plan for this. At least two engineers know each critical part of the system. The documentation stays in your repository. A new team member joins with a handover period of 2 to 4 weeks. Our engagement managers hold the knowledge of the account, and they do not change with the project.
Can your engineers join our existing development team?
Yes. One specialist, or a small group, works inside your team, your process and your board. This suits a capacity gap or a specific knowledge gap. A dedicated team is the better model when you need a complete delivery responsibility and a stable capacity over a long period.
Who owns the code and the intellectual property?
You do. The code, the documentation and the results belong to you from the first day, and the work happens in your repository. Every engineer signs a confidentiality agreement. bbv Vietnam is part of the Swiss bbv group, so you have one contract partner and one legal framework.
How do we start, and how large is the first step?
We recommend a small first step: a pilot of 4 to 6 weeks with 2 or 3 engineers and one agreed result. This shows you the collaboration and the quality at a low risk. After the pilot you extend the team, or you stop. Most of our long-term customers started this way.
